dark fantasy & ephemera
Welcome to my library.
I’m the writer known as SM Reine, but you can call me Sara. I’ve spent my entire life writing fantasy novels, and if you’re here, you may have already read one or eighty-two of them. If not, here’s a couple things you should know:
Most of my books take place in the same urban fantasy world called The Descentverse. (You can find a reading list here.)
My books are available on all ebook retailers and in paperback on Amazon.
Also, small print, but… if you read any three of my books, you are trapped now, and your soul belongs to me until you finish reading all of them. Sounds good? Cool.
the descentverse series
The Descent Series
There is no running from fate.
Elise Kavanagh doesn’t want to hunt demons anymore. It’s been five years since she killed her last. But her former partner, a powerful witch named James Faulkner, wants Elise to fight one more time.
Becoming a hero again would mean risking discovery by old enemies, but they might have already found Elise. Some people aren’t willing to let the past stay dead…
Seasons of the Moon
The good girl has become the big bad wolf.
Rylie Gresham hates everything about summer camp: the food, the fresh air, and the other girls in her cabin. But the worst part is getting bitten by a werewolf. She’s craving raw flesh and struggles with uncontrollable anger. If she doesn’t figure out a way to stop the transformation, then at the end of summer, her life is worse than over. She’ll be a monster.
The Cain Chronicles
The good girl has become the big bad wolf.
Rylie Gresham has enjoyed two peaceful years as Alpha of the last werewolf pack in existence. But her boyfriend, Seth, has been away at college, and her feelings for his brother, Abel, have been growing as they run the pack together as Alphas. Sooner or later, she’s going to have to choose: will she marry Seth, or follow her feelings for Abel?
Cèsar Hawke works for the bad guys.
There are scratches on Cèsar Hawke’s arms, a discharged Glock on his coffee table, and a dead woman in his bathtub. Yeah, maybe he brought
the waitress home for some fun — he was too drunk to remember it — but he knows for a fact that he didn’t kill her. He’s an agent with the Office of Preternatural Affairs. He doesn’t hurt people. He saves them.
The cops disagree. Now Cèsar is running.
The Tarot Witches
They are destined to find each other…
The biker gangs passing through Lobo Norte don’t scare Ofelia anymore. But Trouble is different. A biker with a wolf tattoo and tortured eyes, he sees beyond Ofelia’s tough disguise to a more fragile woman within. There’s magic between them that neither understands. But maybe if Ofelia and Trouble can find the truth, they can release each other from the chains that bind them to Lobo Norte, to the Fang Brothers biker gang, and to the dark secrets in their pasts…
The Ascension Series
The Godslayer will become God.
Lincoln Marshall is a small-town deputy with a very big problem. Six members of his church have been found dead, killed by a rogue werewolf. He’ll have to make a deal with the Devil to save victims that have gone missing — maybe literally. Elise Kavanagh, preternatural investigator and exorcist, is the expert when it comes to violent deaths at the jaws of evil. She’s also among the most powerful demons that Hell has spawned.
The Raven Knights Saga
They are destined to find each other…again.
Touching a magical tarot card awakens Allene Whelan’s latent abilities as a faerie. Her pollen is intoxicating, and it drops her into the middle of the Autumn Court’s war against the rebellious True Kingdom.
She’s the only one who can defeat Macsen, the prophesied Fenrir who will devour the world. But joining the Raven Knights means committing more than her life…it means committing her body and soul, too.
A Fistful of Daggers
God is dead. Lincoln Marshall knows who killed Him…
It’s been a month since apocalypse destroyed the world as Lincoln Marshall once knew it. The new world is populated by deadly faeries, wild shapeshifters, and humans without a god. Lincoln Marshall once conquered Hell. He’s certain he can conquer the Middle Worlds too — and if he can’t, he’s happy to die trying.
War of the Alphas
She’s the Alpha’s only hope.
Ten years ago, Deirdre Tombs died. When she was reborn the next day, Deirdre had become a shapeshifter who can’t shift shapes. Now Deirdre is considered an omega, the weakest shapeshifter in the pack—a vulnerable position when Everton Stark demands tribute from Rylie. He wants to be the dominant Alpha. The only Alpha. And he plans to make her pack submit whether they want to or not…
The Mage Craft Series
It’s time for the Voice of God’s daughter to inherit.
Nineteen-year-old Marion can’t remember anything before waking up in the hospital. All she knows that a lot of people want to kill her. And her would-be assassins are not human. Vampires are real. So are faeries and angels. They all want Marion dead.
Surrounded by enemies, Marion turns to Lucas Flynn: a mysterious doctor who seems to know more than he’s letting on. He’s as good with a gun as he is with a scalpel. He fights like a demon but claims that he’s human. And he’s hellbent on protecting Marion.
Dana McIntyre Must Die
The vampire slayer is turning into a vampire? Over her dead body.
Dana McIntyre has been bitten by a master vampire. She’s infected with the venom. And after killing hundreds of vampires to keep Las Vegas safe,
she’d rather die than turn.
There might be a cure. But the only way to get it is through Nissa Royal, a vampire with close ties to the masters of Las Vegas. Nissa is dangerous — too dangerous to be allowed to live, much less work alongside.
But if Dana dies, vampires win Vegas. If she doesn’t die, she becomes one of the bloodless. The cure’s her only chance. In this deadly game of hold ’em, Dana’s drawing dead, and whatever happens next, there’s no changing her losing hand. Dana only knows one thing: If she’s going down, she’s taking as many vampires as possible on her way out…
The Psychic Cat Mysteries
The multiverse’s greatest detective uses a litter box.
Masterful psychic cat detective Mr. Poe is cunning enough to solve any mystery Haven throws at him. A vampire’s shriveled husk is found long-dead in a wine cellar underneath Haven, a retirement resort where immortals pass infinite time. The only rule in Haven is zero violence, and there’s zero tolerance.
Mr. Poe must team up with the local sheriff, Gwyneth Gresham, in order to solve the murder, bring justice to the deader-than-usual victim, and survive Miss Draconia’s Knitting Circle. For a budding detective like Mr. Poe, one little murder mystery won’t even give him paws.
The race of thieves is on.
You’d never know that Shatter Cage is a were-squirrel by looking at him. Between fake fire charms and his impenetrable confidence, everyone believes he’s the phoenix he claims to be.
A job offer from the biggest Hero cult in America lights a path to fame—and enough money to repay Gutterman. Unfortunately, Cage’s ex-girlfriend, Brigid Byrne, wants the job as bad as he does. Whoever steals an artifact named Nábrók will be hired. And Brigid doesn’t mind kidnapping, poisoning, and back-stabbing Cage to win…
The race of thieves is on. And Cage is bent on scoring Nábrók before all his bad decisions catch up with him.
You deserve a treat.
Grab a free book. Or five. A lot of my books cost absolutely nothing to download. That’s because I’m confident you’ll love them, like millions of other fantasy readers. Hey, all those five-star reviews and 4*-ish averages can’t be wrong, unless mass insanity is a thing. It’s not a thing, is it?
